I spent the weekend in Los Angeles with Michelle and was able to visit with a few close friends, including Nick and Nate.

For those of you who don’t know, actor Nicholas Gonzalez was the inspiration for one of the main characters in my first mystery novel, Desert Blood 10PM / 9C.

Cisco and I stopped by Books Inc bookstore in San Francisco to meet some of today’s hottest YA authors.  Readings by Holly Black, Libba Bray, Cecil Castellucci, and Celia Thomson were just a few of the highlights of this fun event.  See some pictures of the evening here!

I just returned from a fun trip to Colorado, where I spent the Fourth of July holiday visiting friends.

I went to school at the University of Colorado, so it was nice to get back and see the town.  The weather was perfect--warm and sunny.

My friend Bud and I decided to spend a day exploring Pikes Peak, and so we hopped in our car and headed for the summit.  An afternoon thunderstorm added to the dramatic scenery, and even gave us a little bit of snow when we got to the top.  Now that’s a first for the 4th.

See some pictures from our adventure here!

The book is coming along nicely...I received the typeset pages last week and had a chance to do some proof-
reading.  It was very cool to finally see the way the pages will look.  Click the images to the right to take a peek for yourself.  I’m still waiting on the cover art and hopefully will have it soon.

Gabriel and I took a fun, three-day trip up to Idaho and Montana for the Memorial Day weekend.  After a day of fishing in beautiful Coeur d’Alene, we headed east and spent some time checking out Glacier National Park.

As you can see, the weather was near-perfect, and while we normally don’t wear shorts in the snow, on that day we didn’t mind.

I’ve finished looking over the edits made by the copyeditor at Simon & Schuster.  As Emily so kindly put it, “It’s a testament to the precision of your writing and logic that there were so few marks and queries”.  That’s a compliment I can live with!  Click on the picture to the right to view a full-size version of one of the marked pages.  The next step, as I understand it, will be to produce some typeset pages.  That should be soon...
